I think that it is safe to say that The Bamboozle Roadshow Wednesday (May 9th 2007) was one of the best nights of my life. Jensen and I arrived at The Icin around 4:30pm; Lenny, Felicia, and Sheri got there not much later. Before the show played frisbee in the parking lot with Dave and Colin from Hit The Lights. It was pretty great. Most of us kept missing the frisbee, but as the cars began to exit the lot we all felt much more confident in our game as we no longer needed to hold back. Eventually the frisbee broke though. Dave proceeded to get a nerf football from the van. Colin abandoned the game and went inside. We played with the football with Dave for a while and eventually Doug from the Sleeping joined the games as well. Doug went on to refer to Jensen as "stripes", which prompted her to say "what, do we not have names?" and led to me being dubbed "bluesies" and Doug became "A-Team". We played football for about an hour, right up until doors opened.
The show was amazing! Tonight the Riot played first, and although it was a short set it was great to see them. Forgive Durden played next; I've seen them three times now, all by complete chance, and I don't really know their music but I always enjoy seeing them live. The Sleeping played third; I've seen them once, back in November (?), and I really love their live show. THEN...Hit the Lights played. They were amazing as usual. Nick did the awkward turtle from stage, it was great. After Hit The Lights we left the crowd because none of us were interested in seeing The Receiving End of Sirens. For the rest of the show we just hung out with everyone. Jeff (and Shaant and Tom) from Cute Is What We Aim For were there, so we talked with Jeff. Danny and Harmony (TTR) were completely wasted. I asked Harmony what the singer of The Sleeping's name is and he couldn't even talk, it kept coming out "duh", so finally Jensen was like "Doug?" and Harmony said "yeah thats it". Wow. There were a couple really drunk skanky girls there. At one point we were sitting on the floor by the bar and Dave was sitting next to me when one girl walked by and she was stumbling all over and Dave was just like "what the fuck". Being able to hang out with my friends from these bands that I don't get to see very often is what makes them so amazing. We just sat by the bar with Dave, listening to TREOS, but just that was amazing. The guys in Hit The Lights are a great group of guys and I truly do miss them when they are not around. The few evenings I do get to spend with them at a show are far between therefore I must hold on to them with a death grip.
After the show we planned on having a silly string fight in the parking lot. Nick (HTL) said he'd come outside for the fight but he didn't, or at least not while we were still out there. The fight ended up being only between Jensen, Lenny, Jeff (Cute Is What We Aim For) and I. But it was still fun. After we were finished making a mess of the parking lot and sidewalk Lenny, Jensen, Jeff, and I walked to Jim's Steakout. We finished eating and then a couple guys from Forgive Durden came into Jim's; along with Danny and Brendan from Tonight the Riot, Doug and a couple other guys from the Sleeping and a bunch of random people who were with the bands. Eventually Nick and Omar came in but Jensen and I couldn't stay so we only got to hang out with them for a little while. As we were walking back to the car parked a few block away in front of The Icon we ran into Nate, the drummer for Hit The Lights, and notified him that everyone else was laready at Jim's and directed him on how to get there. We arrived back to the car a few minutes later, tired and defeated, wishing the night never had to end.
